Man Facing Charges After Fleeing From Police

An attempt to locate a woman who had an active warrant resulted in a foot pursuit of the homeowner on Saturday, May 5, 2012.

Carroll County Deputy Sheriff J.T. Shaw was searching for Kellie Perkins at the home of Stacey W. Wilson, 1737 Hwy. 36W, Carrollton. Perkins was not at the residence. Wilson gave officers permission to search the home. Carrollton Police Officer Tim Mitchell was assisting Shaw and saw a small amount of marijuana inside the home.

At the time of their arrival, there was another man in the home. Deputy Shaw began patting down that man when he noticed Wilson easing toward the door. Deputy Shaw spoke to Wilson and then Wilson fled outside. Shaw and Mitchell gave chase and apprehended him near the side of KY 36.

During the chase, Deputy Shaw observed Wilson pull something from his pocket and drop it on the ground. Officer Mitchell located a pipe Wilson admitted he used to smoke methamphetamine. Deputy Shaw also found meth in Wilson’s pocket as well as an envelope containing $939 cash. In the house, officers found marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Wilson, 42, was charged with fleeing or evading police second degree, tampering with physical evidence, trafficking in a controlled substance first degree, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest, possession of controlled substance first degree and possession of marijuana.

Also assisting were CCSO Deputy Clay Cable, Kentucky State Police Trooper Chad Johnson and KSP K-9 Officer Ryan Gosser.
